Country Chic Jack O Lantern

I felt like doing something a little different this year for pumpkin carving. Honestly, I just haven't felt like doing a lot of decorating and I wanted to make a modern yet feminine looking pumpkin that would go with my shabby chic home decor.

This white jack o lantern was super easy to make.I used a pumpkin knife to open the top, and a spoon to scoop out the inside. I then used a couple of skewers (the wood kind you use for kababs)to poke the vintage lace doilie pattern.

Black, White, and a Yellow Lace Pencil Skirt

I'm very particular about the type of yellow that I wear. So when this lace skirt came from JCPenny's Project Runway line I was thrilled! It runs a little on the small side, and you need to wear a slip with it but it is super comfortable and adorable. I'm considering cutting out the under slip all together so that the white of my slip dress shows through more. Yellow is one of those colors that can be overpowering so it might be good to break it up.

Speaking of slips, these ones from Downeast are fantastic. They feel like giant comfy t-shirts. Here I'm wearing the white one with the nude one underneath. I like how they can work as a top and a slip at the same time, or even a pencil dress if you layer two of them.

I've been trying to downsize my wardrobe lately and I'm getting back into my Miche bag again. For those who don't know, they are bags that you can easily change the outer skin on because they are held on by magnets, so you can change your look very quickly and you can store a lot of options in a little space because the shells fold up nicely.

Summer Work Wear

I'm really enjoying the statement sleeves that are popular this season. They make my typical monochrome outfit seem a little more flirty and summery.

Leopard Print Top

Leopard print has been trending. I'll admit, this is a really hard one for me. I've always thought of leopard print as tacky, something not a lot of woman could pull off. But I've been seeing it more and if I figured if I liked the way other people looked in it, then I could try it too. Then I found this top at a thrift store and it was meant to be. To make sure I still felt classy I paired it with my classic flats an a blazer.

To my surprise I loved the look. It made me feel attractive and added a little flare to an otherwise typical outfit. I'll still probably only wear minimal amounts of leopard print, Now that I know how to wear leopard print, I'm on the lookout for some cute shoes.

Bathroom Update

I finished decorating our bathroom, for such a small space it sure looks cute. I chose blue and gold colors, like we have in our living room. Between the extra shelving and the sink, there is more storage for our small space.

Our Trip to San Francisco

There's something magical about traveling in the off season. We did a lot of touristy things on our trip, rode a tour bus, visited the pier, took a cable car, ate a lot of delicious food, but somehow it seemed more special and intimate between the bursts of rain and fog. At one point our tour bus left without us. Fortunately we were in the beautiful Vista Point on a good day so I got some awesome shots.
