Ultra Violet Workwear

Everyday in 8th grade I wore purple or violet. I was obsessed. Finally someone commented that it looked like I was wearing the same clothes every day (even though I wasn't) and I realized I needed to mix it up a little more. I'm super excited for this ultra violet trend, as well as to see more purple as we move into fall fashion.

The top is layered, sheer, and very flowy, so it looks best when layered under a blazer, jacket, or sweater, that gives it a little more structure.

I love white jeans because they are comfortable but still polished enough to wear to work. Overall this is a super comfortable business outfit for a woman with curves.

All of these are items I've had for a while, but I was able to mix them up in a new way. I'm trying to get away from so much black this season and I think navy is a good replacement neutral.

Summer 2018 Capsule

A lot of fun projects have left me posting this kind of late in the summer, but I still thought I'd share. The biggest trend that I've learned to adopt this summer has been wide leg pants. Target has some great linen ones that I've been in all summer. Here's my capsule for this summer season.

Also, the loss of Polyvore has been pretty sad. I've moved to Shop Look, friend and follow me on there by searching TheWonderWays.

Bow Sleeve Floral Top

I'm particular about my florals. They can't have too many colors or have so much going on that they distract from the rest of the outfit. The pattern can't be so big that it overwhelms my petite height or so small that it mutes the colors. This floral tunic from Cleo Madison is perfection. I'm excited to collaborate with them. It has a work appropriate, high neckline, a flattering scoop hem, and the bow sleeves give it a little extra personality. It even comes in XL, although I would say it runs in teenage sizes.

Green Business Outfit

Lately I've been trying to be more dedicated to only buying clothes that are a 9 or 10/10 instead of filling my closet with clothes that are just ok and I buy simply because they are a good deal. I feel like I got it all with this new Cotton Knit Wrap Top from eShakti. I've found best tops for my petite, plus size, apple body type are either 1. peplum 2. rounded heme or 3 wrap. This top is all three! It is classsic, flattering, and comfortable. Best of all, eShakti will make clothes to your own custom size.

Casual Adventuring

We took a weekend getaway to the Seacrest Oceanfront Hotel in Pismo Beach, California. I highly recommend going there, especially during to off season, when it is less expensive and less crowded. We had fun climbing the cliffs and walking the beaches in the cool sweater weather. I kept things comfortable in this indigo sweater from Sears (it is super flattering and it comes in petite, yay!), leggings from Ross, a striped shirt (retired, was on Amazon) and some waterproof sandals (gifted). The perfect outfit for cuddlintwg up by the fire pits at night.

Of course I brought my favorite travel bag from Modcloth. I love how it can be worn as a purse, messenger bag, and backpack (to help you keep you balance when climbing over those tall rocks. I want to go back already.

Country Chic Jack O Lantern

I felt like doing something a little different this year for pumpkin carving. Honestly, I just haven't felt like doing a lot of decorating and I wanted to make a modern yet feminine looking pumpkin that would go with my shabby chic home decor.

This white jack o lantern was super easy to make.I used a pumpkin knife to open the top, and a spoon to scoop out the inside. I then used a couple of skewers (the wood kind you use for kababs)to poke the vintage lace doilie pattern.

Black, White, and a Yellow Lace Pencil Skirt

I'm very particular about the type of yellow that I wear. So when this lace skirt came from JCPenny's Project Runway line I was thrilled! It runs a little on the small side, and you need to wear a slip with it but it is super comfortable and adorable. I'm considering cutting out the under slip all together so that the white of my slip dress shows through more. Yellow is one of those colors that can be overpowering so it might be good to break it up.

Speaking of slips, these ones from Downeast are fantastic. They feel like giant comfy t-shirts. Here I'm wearing the white one with the nude one underneath. I like how they can work as a top and a slip at the same time, or even a pencil dress if you layer two of them.

I've been trying to downsize my wardrobe lately and I'm getting back into my Miche bag again. For those who don't know, they are bags that you can easily change the outer skin on because they are held on by magnets, so you can change your look very quickly and you can store a lot of options in a little space because the shells fold up nicely.
